Question

Should I delete this bill?

I have a list of bills that say they are overdue or not paid; however, I have categorized them with receipts and have submitted them through the expense function in QBO. Should I delete the overdue bills in the bill list or should I mark them as paid? If I mark them as paid, will they show as they have been paid twice?

Thank you,

Hi there, ryannvan.

I'm here to share information about managing bills in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

Did you use the expense to pay the bill in question? If so, this is the reason why the bill is still showing as unpaid. To isolate this, you can delete the expense, then use the Pay bills function instead to mark the bill as paid.

To delete the expense, here's how:

  1. In QBO, go to the Expenses menu at the left pane.
  2. Proceed to the Expenses tab.
  3. Locate the expense transactions, then click the drop-down arrow beside the View/Edit option.
  4. Select Delete, then Yes to confirm.

Once done, here's how to mark the bill as paid using the Pay bills option:

  1. In QBO, click the + New option at the top left.
  2. Select Pay bills.
  3. Place a checkmark on the bill(s) to be paid.
  4. Hit Save and close to complete.
