Question

The 1099 report for contractors is not showing up for all contractors. There are 290 but only 7 show up in the 1099 report. Everything is set up correctly. ??

Someone asked this question before but I have followed all of the steps for activating accounts, tracking for 1099's, choosing correct accounts to be mapped. I spent an hour and a half on the phone with QB and they couldn't help either. Hoping someone here can!

I want to make sure you're able to view all your contractors when you generate the 1099 report, @kristen-young-th.

I appreciate you for doing some necessary troubleshooting steps on your end to get rid of the problem. You'll have to check the following details below to make sure that all your contractors will show when you generate the 1099 report. Let me show you how:

  • Make sure to put a check mark on Track Payments for 1099 on the vendor's information.
  • Payments made via credit carddebit cardgift card, or a third-party network like PayPal are also excluded in the 1099 Transactions report.
  • Ensure that they have already reached the threshold.

Please know that only those contractors you paid above the annual $600 cash threshold get 1099. If those contractors don't meet the required threshold they will not show in the 1099 report.

You can check by following the steps below:

  1. Go to the Expenses menu
  2. Select Vendors or Payroll then Contractors.
  3. Select Prepare 1099 and select Continue until you get to the window called “Check that the payments add up.”
  4. Click the arrow next to the filter icon at the top of the table and change the type of contractors to 1099 Contractors below the threshold.

For more details, on how to find missing contractors. Just check out this article: Fix missing contractors or wrong amounts on 1099s.

If you've done all these steps already or you submitted it within QuickBooks Online, we can perform some troubleshooting steps. Let's pull up the 1099 report using an incognito window. Then try to generate the report from there. If it works, you can clear the browser's cache since it can also cause errors in QuickBooks. You can also use other supported browsers as an alternative.

I've also added these articles that can guide you more with the 1099 report:

If there's anything else that I can help you with, please let me know by leaving any comments below. I'll be here to lend a hand. Stay safe, @kristen-young-th.
