dears wondering is there any feature in QuickBooks to have tow account in on? i have a coffee shop and a small home business but I don't want to mix the recodes and book , or  I have to purchase a new account ?

You've come to the right place, @Salma12. I'm here to share some info about creating multiple companies.

 

To clarify, what QuickBooks platform are you using? In QuickBooks Desktop, you can create a separate company file for your coffee shop and small home business. 

 

Here's how:

  1. Open QuickBooks Desktop.
  2. In the No Company Open window, select Create a new company.
  3. At this point, you have two setup options:
    1. Select Express Start or Start Setup if you want to get started right away. You only need to enter your business name, industry, and business type and select Create Company File to create your company. You can enter this info later on.
    2. Select Detailed Start if you want to do a complete setup, so all of your info is in from the start.
  4. Follow the onscreen steps to finish the setup. If you have an existing company file in QuickBooks, give your new one a unique name. This prevents QuickBooks from accidentally overwriting your data.
  5. Select Start Working.

 

In QuickBooks Online (QBO), you can also have as many companies as you'd like under the same account. Each company you create requires an additional subscription, but you can access them with the same sign-in info. This lets you quickly switch between companies.

 

To add a new company:

  1. Go to the QuickBooks pricing page and select the subscription you want. 
  2. You’ll see a page that asks you to create an Intuit account to buy QuickBooks. Scroll all the way to the bottom and look for the small text that says Adding a company to an existing account.” Select Sign in next to this.

  3. If you're signed in to QuickBooks, you’ll be asked to confirm the account you want to sign in with. If the account displayed is the one you want to use for the new company file, select Continue.
  4. When asked, enter the same ID and password you already use for QuickBooks. 
  5. Fill out all the information about your new company and you’re good to go.

 

Now that you have multiple companies, you’ll be asked which company you want to open whenever you sign in to QBO . To switch between companies at any time, select the Gear icon and select Switch company.

 

As another option, you may also utilize the Location/Class tracking feature available in QuickBooks. This helps you categorize data from different locations, offices, regions, outlets, or departments of the same company. Refer to these following articles:

If you are using QB Online, you need to have two QBO accounts.

You can manage multi company files with one license for QB Desktop.
