Question

Unable to connect into bank for past 10 days. Able to log into my bank's site no problem, no errors, etc on their end. Using TIAA. Was working well until now. How to fix?

Thanks for visiting the Community today, @setiramm@me.com. It's my pleasure to help with your banking concern. I appreciate you for checking your bank site.

There are a few reasons why you're getting banking errors in QuickBooks. Below are the following possible causes:

  • The bank recently made some changes with their security feature or connection.
  • Log in credentials set up in QBSE don't match with the online banking login.
  • QuickBooks Self-Employed is unable to connect to your bank's website.

In your case, may I know the error message you received when trying to connect your bank account?

Meanwhile, we can manually refresh the connection in QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE) to fetch cleared transactions from your bank. Here's how:

  1. Click on the Gear icon.
  2. Choose Bank accounts under Transactions.
  3. Click on the Refresh all button three times.

That would trigger the bank to bridge connections with the system.

For future reference, you'll want to create rules to swiftly categorize transactions in QBSE.

Reach out to me if you need anything else. I’ll be sure to get back to you as soon as I can.

When I go to the screen you advised, it initially says "We are having temporary problems accessing your account. Please wait a few hours and try again."  This is the same message for the past 10 days. After hitting refresh, it shows me the screenshot attached. When I put in the bank login, etc the whole thing disappears and takes me back to the beginning. So basically it doesnt process my login at all. I have cleared all cookies, history, etc. Nothing is blocked. I have lost count how many times I have hit refresh.

In addition, sometimes it won't show the login for the bank at all. I have to force reload the whole page. Then on the occasion it DOES show the bank login it will completely disappear and take me back to the beginning. Doesnt even give me a chance to log in!

This is ridiculous.  I have been through the ringer with TIAA who apparently did change things a few weeks ago which is why you can't login to TIAA through QBO now unless you have a company ID, user ID and password.  I have straightened all of this out with TIAA and there is still NO WAY to connect the two.

So if you previously logged in with a name and a password, it's probably incorrect, but nobody seems to know what's correct and NOTHING WORKS.  So much for submitting my year end info to my accountant.

I am having the exact problem. My account has not connected since 11/17. Error Code 176. Have you had any luck?
