Welcome to the Community, olini-modelcitiz.

You've come to the right place for help with all things QuickBooks. I'm happy to provide some info about what to do when there's a difference with the beginning balance and discrepancy report.

The first thing that comes to mind is that there may be filters or certain settings turned on that are effecting the discrepancy report. I recommend checking the report once more to make sure there aren't any filters or customization adjusted, especially something like the date range, that could cause the data to differ.

If the report looks good, there may be an issue with the beginning balance. Issues with the balance can sometimes be caused by:

  • Someone entered an incorrect opening balance when they created the account in QuickBooks.
  • Someone added transactions that are older than the opening balance, but didn't edit the original opening balance entry to reflect the change.
  • Someone edited, deleted, moved, or unreconciled an already reconciled transaction. This changes the ending balance of your last reconciliation, which impacts the beginning balance of the next one.
  • Someone manually reconciled a transaction, so it didn't show up on the next reconciliation.

The following article provides additional info about fixing issues for accounts you've reconciled in the past in QuickBooks Online.
