Question

When trying to delete a transaction, I'm asked to enter the password to continue but my QB password doesn't work. Any suggestions?

It's great to have you join the Community, @mvklopp. I'll walk you through the process of effectively deleting a transaction without needing to input a password. It's important to set a closing date and password to prevent accidental changes to financial reports.

Here's how you can turn off or edit your close books in QuickBooks Online (QBO):

  1. Before you start, sign in to QuickBooks Online as a primary admin or company admin. Only admins can make these changes.
  2. Go to Settings ⚙, then select Account and Settings.
  3. Select the Advanced tab.
  4. Select Edit ✎ in the Accounting section.
  5. Change the Closing dateNote: To change your password, just enter a new password and confirm it.
  6. Select Save, then Done.
