Why are my classes no longer showing up in the drop down for report filtering?

when I run the Profit and Loss Detail report, I have always been able to filter it by class. Now, the classes are not showing up in the drop down when I try to filter. Only Specified, Not Specified and All are in the drop down as options for some reason

I can help you get to the bottom of your reporting concern without a moment's delay, @arkvalleyinfo.

This report filter error can sometimes be caused by the browser's overtime collection of data from frequent page visits. To isolate this matter, you can perform some troubleshooting steps.

You can start by pulling up your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account using a private browser (incognito). Here's how:

  • Press Ctrl Shift (Google Chrome)
  • Ctrl Shift (Firefox)
  • Control Option (Safari)

Once signed in, go to the Reports menu and pull up the Profit and Loss Detail report. If you're able to view the complete list of your classes in the drop-down while filtering the report (Please see the screenshot below for your reference), return to your default browser and clear its cache. This will refresh the system and remove older data that causes viewing and performances issue. However, if this matter continues, I'd recommend using other supported browsers.

To learn more about focusing on the details that matter the most to you when you pull up financial reports in QBO, I encourage you to check out this article: Customize reports in QuickBooks Online.

After customizing, you may memorize the Profit and Loss Detail report to save your current customization settings. Then, you can opt to export or download the said report to have a copy for future use. For the step-by-step guide, you can refer to this article: Export reports, lists, and other data from QuickBooks Online.

Also, financial reports give you snapshots of different areas of your business. To know the complete list of reports available for your version of QBO, you can check out this article: Reports included in your QuickBooks Online subscription.

I'll be right here to continue helping if you have any other reporting concerns in QBO. Take care and stay safe.
