Good afternoon, @arkvalleyinfo.

Allow me to add some clarification to the verification process you're seeing in QuickBooks Online (QBO). If you're being asked to verify your account upon every single log-in, it's because Two-Step Authentication has been enabled on your account. If you'd like to disable this, you can do so using the steps below:

Disabling Two-Step Authentication

  1. Log in to the Intuit Online Account management portal.
  2. Navigate to the Security tab. Click Turn Off to expand the Two-step verification section.
  3. Select Turn Off.
  4. Enter the one-time pass code you received and select Continue.

These instructions are also available from our guide on disabling two-step authentication. Once this feature is disabled, you will only be asked to verify your account when you log in from a new device (PC or mobile), a new browser, or when you clear or reset your current browser's cached data. Please know you can always reach me here for all of your QuickBooks needs. Thanks for coming to the Community, cheers to a grand and successful New Year ahead.

What would be the reason for the constant login verification with pictures and required text code when the two-factor authentication is disabled (and has never been enabled)? This issue has occurred in both Chrome and Firefox -- and I'm tired of "clear your cookies and cache" as the standard support response.

Hi there, @PracticeAdmin.

Thanks for joining the Community today. I can share some information about why you need to verify your account upon logging in to QuickBooks Online.

Your account's security is our top priority. Passwords, on their own, are not always secure if someone gets your password, they can access your account and make unauthorized changes. This is why we enhanced our security and added multi-factor authentication and Two-step Verification.

Multi-factor authentication is an extra layer of security, which you may be asked to enter a one-time confirmation code, which provides extra protection for your password. The code will be sent to your email or mobile device. However, you have the option to opt these verification by following the steps that colleague MichaelDL provided above.

If you need additional assistance about this concern feel free to reach Customer Care Team. You can reach them through the contact details found in this link: Contact the QuickBooks Online Customer Support team.

These information should get you moving today.

Be sure to let me know how else I can empower you to make QuickBooks work the way your business needs. Thanks for coming to the Community, wishing you continued success.

I'm using QB Online.

I've never had two-step verification turned on.

I'm continually asked to verify. If I shut my laptop, I have to go through it all over again...a dozen or more times a day.....

There appears to be no solution to this.

Why aren't you fixing this?

Thanks for following up on this thread, marciaeyster.

Intuit provides security settings to verify that you're the one signing in to your account using the unique code and password.

You can also turn this off in just a few steps. Before we proceed, I'd suggest that you open a private window from your browser. Below are the keyboard shortcut keys to open a private window:

  • Chrome: press Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Firefox: press Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari (for Mac): press Command + Shift +N
  • Microsoft edge: press Ctrl + Shift + N

Once your private window is up, you can follow these steps to disable two-step verification.

If you're using the same phone number, here's how:

  1. Log in to your Intuit account using this link: https://accounts.intuit.com/
  2. From the left menu, choose Sign In & Security.
  3. In the “Two-step verification” section, select Turn off.
  4. Enter the code, then select Continue.

Otherwise, if you're using a different phone number, you'll need to update it first then turn off the two-step verification.

Like this:

  1. Fill up the Email Change Request form.
Reminder: Make sure to put your new phone number in the Recovery Number field.
  2. Upload any copy of your photo ID forms:
      a. Click on Browse.
      b. Find and select the file.
      c. Select Open.
  3. Once done, click on Submit.
  4. You'll receive a notification that your phone number is updated
  5. Log in to your Intuit account using this link: https://accounts.intuit.com/
  6. Choose Sign In & Security tab.
  7. In the “Two-step verification” section, click on Turn off.
  8. Enter the code, then select Continue.

That'll surely let you sign in to your account using a password only.

You can also check this link on how to change the email address linked to your QuickBooks Online account.

I'll be here if you still have questions and clarifications about account verifications. Enjoy your week!

You're correct about the two-step verification process in QuickBooks, @DeniseB8. Let me share further details about this.

Your account's security is our top priority. Two-factor authentication works as an extra layer of security upon logging into QuickBooks. Even if you've turned it off from your account settings, it'll still ask for a code sent via email or mobile number.

To learn more about the accounts verification process in QuickBooks, please refer to this article: What is the difference between Multi-Factor Authentication and Two-step Verification?.

Also, to further guide you in managing your QuickBooks account, I'd recommend checking out this article: QuickBooks Help Articles. It includes topics about data and security, subscription and user management, and company information, to name a few.

Please feel more than welcome to reach out if you have any other login verification and security access concerns with QuickBooks. I'm always around to help. Take care, and I wish you continued success, @DeniseB8.

Obviously the users do not want 2fv.  I think it's a royal time consuming pain since I'm already signed in two different ways.  Please tell me how to turn off this annoying time consuming two party verification code sent to a phone that is in the office while we work at home.

I'm convinced this is a glitch in the system.  When I sign in at work, Intuit sends an authorization code to my boss's email, which I don't always have access to, which means I can't sign in. When I sign in from home, I don't get the authorization step, so it has nothing to do with two-step verification, which isn't on anyway. However, I discovered a work around.  Create a new email address for yourself at any of the free ones, like Yahoo or Gmail.  When you have been able to log in as the user you prefer to use, invite your new email self to join. Go thru the steps of setting your new email address up as a new user with the same access you have as your regular user self.  Next time you need to sign in, enter your new email address. Instead of sending an authorization code, it asks you for your password. Enter whatever new password you used and you are in. To get back to your regular user self, log out, and then immediately log back in.  This time you have the option to log back in as your old user self and password, and it doesn't send an authorization to your email.

How do delete this post?  I made this post months and months ago and I'm still getting replies to it.  The replies I get are mowtly about turning the 2 step factor off in which it's never been on.  At this point I just want to delete this post so people stop replying with ideas that don't work but I can't even seem to be able to do that.

I am having this same trouble with ALL of my clients.  Some are using their phone number still, so I have to wait for them to respond to me, often times it's too late and I have to resend a code.  I think this is a push for quickbooks accountant, but I can not be sure.  I hope that this is soon over... because I used to not have to text a code each time.  This will soon get annoying especially for my clients who will need to text MY phone number for THEIR accounts. Quickbooks!!! HELP!!!!
