Why was I charged $20.90 by Intuit on a $21090.00 customer payment when the max I have been charged on larger payments was $15?

That was $2090.00 not $21090.00

    1. Log in to your QuickBooks Online Company.
    2. Click the Help button at the top of the page.
    3. Choose the Search tab. Type in your concern and click enter on your keyboard.
    4. Click Contact us.
    5. Under Callback, click the Have us call you button. This will route you to enter your details.
    6. After that, select Get a call.

    Was this an ACH payment?  If so, they recently increased/capped the fee @ $20 for existing customers.  New customers have to pay 1% on ACH fees so that would have been $210.90!  Yikes.  There are much cheaper options out there for making and receiving ACH payments.  Bill.com and Melio to name a couple.  They charge a flat rate - $0.49 in Bill.com and Melio gives you a few free ones each month.

      Yes! It's free or very low cost (e.g. 29 cents) to send payments with many banks, who will accept NACHA files that contain ACH payments.  See https://www.nerdwallet.com/article/banking/ach-transfers for details.

       

      While this question is for QB Online, if you use QuickBooks Desktop and you're interested in saving a lot of money, and if your bank will accept NACHA files, consider our BRC Direct Deposit File Creator , which will pull employee and vendor checks from your QuickBooks bank account and create ACH payments from them.

      Oops, missed that part.  You were charged 1%.  A 1% ACH fee is extraordinarily expensive.  It pains me to think QB users are paying Intuit 1% when they are generally less than $0.50 per ACH regardless of amount.
