Hi there, I have not been able to connect to Barclays Bank (error 9999) from Quick Books for several days. Is this a widespread problem or is it confined to me?

Imogen.

July 5, 2024

Hi Imogen Thanks for reaching out to us. A number of our customers have been experiencing the 9999 error, the error is caused by a script error that interrupts the connection between QuickBooks and the bank. To resolve the issue I'd be grateful if you can login to QuickBooks using a private/incognito window, navigate to the for review/banking page > select the drop down menu to the right of link account > Manage connections > follow the prompts > refresh the page. If this doesn't resolve the error please fully disconnect and reconnect the bank account following the steps in the article provided: https://intuit.me/3xL8uVA

Hi,

I have missing transactions in the Bank Transactions tab. This is the first time this has happened. I have checked categorised/excludes. I have disconnected/reconnected the bank link. It's just not appearing - why has this happened? How do I fix this? How do I know that all the other transactions are appearing without manually checking?

many thanks

Hello, Sarfraz.

I can walk you through how to check your bank connection concern.

The transactions downloaded to QuickBooks Online (QBO) depend on the data provided by your bank. This happens when there's an issue with the bank or maintenance.

I suggest that you log in to your bank website to check for notifications, updates, or alerts that need action. If there's no issue with your bank, you can go back to your QuickBooks account to update it manually to get the most recent transactions. Here's how:

  1. Login to your QBO account, and go to the Transactions tab.
  2. Choose Bank Transactions.
  3. Click the correct bank account and select Update.

After updating, transactions should be downloaded to QuickBooks. You can check them manually in the For Review section.

If the entries are still missing, you may want to consider uploading them yourself. Read this article to learn more: Manually upload transactions into QuickBooks Online.

Once they are in QuickBooks, you are now ready to match and categorize them.

I’ll get back to you as soon as possible if you have other concerns with your bank transactions. Just comment below and stay safe.

I appreciate your participation in this discussion, Kate. I'm here to ensure you can connect all your bank accounts to QuickBooks Online (QBO).

First, I'd like to know the financial institutions you want to connect with in QBO. Did you get any error messages when you tried to link them? It will assist me in identifying the root of the problem.

If you encounter multiple results during your search, we recommend logging into all bank extensions. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Transactions menu and then select Bank transactions.
  2. Click Link account.
  3. In the Search field, enter the bank's URL (example: https://www.hsbc.com).
  4. Select your bank. If you see multiple options, please repeat these steps to find the correct one.
  5. Enter your bank login on your bank's website, then select Continue.

However, if you have tried all the options and still can't connect, or if your bank doesn’t appear, we suggest requesting support for your bank.

In case you come across an error code or error message when trying to connect a bank account, please see this article to rectify this: Fix bank errors in QuickBooks Online.

In the meantime, you can download your transactions from your bank's website and upload them to QuickBooks using a CSV file. Once done, review them to ensure they're added to the correct accounts.

You can also add the bank's name and other details in the comments below. By doing so, I can check our records for any investigations or verify its cause.

My bank (Monzo) is connected and works fine. However if there are multiple of the same transactions, eg a purchase and then a refund or a deposit and a refund, quickbooks only brings through the refund and not the expense. In the case where there are multiple of the same amount from the same merchant quickbooks will only recognise one, is there any way to rectify this?

Hi there, JW011.

When you connect your bank, your transactions will be automatically imported into QuickBooks Online. However, please note that QuickBooks depends on the bank's data to populate the program. Your financial institution determines how QuickBooks receives the information. Thus, it displays the exact information when syncing entries.

To rectify this, let's refresh the bank connection to import the missing transactions. Here's how:

  1. Open your QuickBooks Online account.
  2. Go to Transactions and select Bank transactions
  3. Select  Update

Afterward, carefully review, categorise, and match the downloaded transactions to ensure everything is correct. This will help you keep your Charts of Accounts organised and accurate.

If the transactions didn't show, I suggest manually uploading the transactions using a CSV file your bank provides. This guarantees precise transactions that are reflected in QuickBooks Online. Make sure to review the file format and size before doing so.

I also encourage contacting Monzo about how they send their data to QuickBooks Online and prevent this from happening in the future.

Tag me in the comment below if you have clarification about managing transactions in QuickBooks. I'm always here to help.

Hello,

I have a problem linking my American Express card to my quickbooks online. I receive the message that I need to re authenticate, which I do and I receive confirmation that it has been completed yet it does not and the message to re authenticate re appears. I just dont know what to do. I hope that someone can help. Thank you

Let's work through some troubleshooting steps to get your American Express card linked up without a hitch, Francis13.

To start, did you come across any error codes or messages? That information will be crucial for us to address the issue effectively.

While I wait for your response, log in to your Financial institution (FI) to check for notifications. Make sure there aren't any pending messages or alerts on your American Express account that might need your attention.

If there's none, sign in to QuickBooks Online (QBO) via incognito mode or private window. These browsing sessions prevent data and history linked from staying on the device, allowing the online program to function smoothly. Follow the steps below to bring up a private window:

  • Safari 11 or newer: ⌘+Shift+N
  • Chrome: Ctrl+Shift+N
  • Safari: Command+Shift+N
  • Microsoft Edge: CTRL + Shift + N

If you've successfully connected your card to QBO, clear the cache and cookies to improve the browser's overall performance. Otherwise, use another supported browser to see if the issue is with the current one you're using.

If none of these suggestions work, disconnect and reconnect your account to start fresh. Before you do this, check the For review tab for any pending transactions and note the date of your last downloaded transaction. This way, you won’t download the same ones again when you reconnect.

Once the bank feeds connection is up and running again, categorise online bank transactions to keep your records organised and facilitate an easy reconciliation process.

If you have other banking-related concerns or queries managing your entries and other accounting tasks, leave a comment below. We'll get back to assist you further.

Thank you.

The error code is 350

I have checked my American Express online account and I cannot see any notification. It is a personal card but it has always worked.

I will follow the procedure through private browsing.

Thank you

I am trying to connect my quickbooks account to my Starling Bank. I get through the process as far as looking into my bank successfully. I am then returned to an Intuit page that states:

“You're almost done. Select Continue to finish up”

Selecting Continue results in a ‘blank page’.

Any suggestions?

Thanks for telling us exactly what happened when you tried to connect a bank account, John. I'll share a series of steps that can resolve common browser or other technical issues when connecting banks and downloading transactions in QuickBooks Online.

Start by adding Intuit as a trusted site. Then, use the most up-to-date versions of these supported browsers when logging in to QuickBooks Online:

After that, connect your account from Starling bank once again to check if you're able to do it.

Additional options about resolving browser-related issues are also laid out in these articles:

Now, there are times that getting a blank screen is caused by opening QuickBooks on a multiple tabs. Close all other tabs that has QBO simultaneously and use only one.

To make sure you have all the necessary resources when managing your bank transactions, I'll share these articles as well:
