Question

Automatically recognized transactions

Because I entered one Mobile Deposit under a certain Payee, QBO is now "recognizing" all Mobile Deposit transactions and automatically entering that payee and categorizing the transaction, incorrectly. It is not in the Rules list and I want it to stop automatically recognizing all mobile deposit transactions in this way. I want those transactions to remain blank. How do I do this?

Hi Heidi933,

Thanks for joining us! The Bank Feeds feature in QuickBooks Online offers some powerful automation, so you don't have to enter your transactions manually. Having your transactions correctly categorized ensures accuracy across your books. I'll be happy to assist you with this.

After connecting your bank or credit card account in QuickBooks Online, the system automatically downloads your recent transactions in your books. At this point, all you need to do is to review those transactions and approve the way QuickBooks categorizes them or edit if necessary before adding the transactions in your chart of accounts. QuickBooks automatically categorize some transactions base on previous manual categorization. It's not uncommon to sometimes see incorrect details when the system is still learning to recognize patterns in your file. While you can't stop the system from automatically categorizing, the more you get to manually categorize your transactions, the more you teach the program on how to get better in its automation. A good practice is to always review the automatic categorization and edit where necessary before approving them. I hope this helps to clarify things for you. Don't hesitate to stop by if you have more questions.
