How can I fix a bank account that I have incorrectly linked as a sub account?

I linked a bank account that is under the same banking relationship as another account, but is not a sub account. Unfortunately I made an error and put it as a sub account. Now I can't find a way to correct the mistake

Hi Khexter1,

Don't worry! Mistakes happen, and when they do, my team and I are here to help you figure out a way to fix them. When it comes to fixing an account that was accidentally set up as a sub-account, it's a pretty easy fix. I'll show you how it's done.

QuickBooks Online's chart of accounts is simple to work with when it comes to adding and even editing accounts once you know the steps to take. When you have an account that you no longer want to be a sub-account, here's how you can change it.

  1. Select Accounting from the left-hand menu.
  2. Find the sub-account in your account list.
  3. In the ACTION column for that account, click the down arrow.
  4. Select Edit.
  5. Uncheck the box Is sub-account.
  6. Click Save and close.

Just like that, the account will no longer be a sub-account. It's possible to do this even if the accounts are connected in the banking feed. Give these steps a shot, and feel free to keep me posted with how they go. Take care. :)
