Hi kim182,

Thanks for reaching out in QuickBooks Community with your question. The Banking Feeds feature in QuickBooks Online can reduce the amount of time it takes to enter your transactions, giving you more time to focus on things you love. I can see why you'd want to remove the duplicate transactions and I can help you with that.

Sometimes an entry, like a deposit will be entered through a manual transaction where you click the +New, and bank deposit. It may also download in the banking feed transactions, and if the Add instead of Match is selected, you'll see duplicates created.

If you aren't sure what your duplicate transactions are, I find the easiest way to locate them is through these steps.

  1. Go to the Transactions or it may be called Banking, from the left navigation menu.
  2. Choose the Banking tab.
  3. Highlight the bank account that you're searching for duplicates in. Above the transactions on the right-hand side, you'll see GoTo Bank Register, click this.
  4. You can filter by Payment amount or Deposit amount by clicking the column title's arrow. This will align all of the transactions by amount. It makes it easier to pick out duplicate entries when they're together.
  5. Compare the entries, Date, Amount, Description. Transactions entered through the bank feeds will be indicated with a green box in the column under the checkmark.
  6. If you're certain they're duplicates you can click on the duplicate entry and hit Delete.
  7. It'll give you a warning. If you're sure hit Yes.

This will remove the duplicate transaction from your register and your balance. You can continue to check this way until you're satisfied that you've found them all. If you've reconciled the account, then it's the transaction that doesn't have an R in the column under the checkmark that you'll want to remove. If you delete the reconciled transaction, you'll put your reconciliation out.

If you have any questions regarding which transactions are duplicates, I recommend reaching out to your accountant. If you don't have one that you work with you can find one familiar with QuickBooks by going to My Accountant from the left navigation menu. Click on Find a Pro to help.

I'd also be happy to answer any other questions you have. I'm here to help. Have a great weekend!
