Hello outlawmeatsltd,

Welcome to the QuickBooks Community! I know the difference that start dates can make when it comes to accounting, so I want to make sure that you have the steps you're looking for to get the information you need into your books. I've got a couple ideas of what you might mean here, and I'll go over them with you.

Typically, when someone is looking to change the start date, they're talking about the date of their fiscal year. However, I see that your question has been posted to the Banking & Currency section of the QuickBooks Community, so you may also be talking about downloading transactions in the bank feed.

To change your fiscal year in QuickBooks Online is just a few steps in the settings. When you change the starting month of your fiscal year, the program recognizes that moving forward to help with reporting and other such things. Here's how you can change it.

  1. Select the Gear icon.
  2. Choose Account and settings.
  3. Select Advanced.
  4. Click the Accounting section to edit.
  5. Choose from the First month of fiscal year drop-down menu.
  6. Click Save.

If you're working with a bank feed connection and are only seeing transactions back to a certain date, that's because QuickBooks Online's bank feeds generally bring in 90 days of transactions upon the initial connection, but it also depends on the bank connection itself. Some banks offer more, others offer less.

For instances where the feed didn't bring in the transactions you're looking for, use the steps outlined in our Manually upload transactions into QuickBooks Online article. This will give you the option to upload more transactions to sort into your books. Here are a couple of other articles about the bank feed connection if you'd like to review them.

I hope that helps. Let me know if those aren't quite the start dates you're looking for. I want to make sure you're good to go with using QuickBooks!
