Hey debmosley,

QuickBooks makes it easy to enter all sorts of transactions and financial information. To ensure we give you the best support, I think we'll need a few more details about your situation. I've included a few options that may answer your question, but don't hesitate to let me know if there's anything more I can do.

If you just mean a credit received in your bank account, you can record this as a bank deposit like so:

  1. Click on + New and select Bank deposit under OTHER.
  2. Select the correct Account and enter the Date.
  3. In the Add funds to this deposit section, enter the credit Account and Amount received.
  4. Click Save and close.

If by Bank Credit you mean the amount of credit available for your bank account, you can simply keep recording transactions for that account. QuickBooks Online will allow you to have a negative balance in your bank accounts. If you wish to keep track of the total amount of credit available, it will need to be entered in the Description. You can do this in just a few easy steps:

  1. Head to the Accounting tab from the left and select Chart of Accounts.
  2. In the Action column, click on the drop-down menu for your bank account and select Edit.
  3. Enter desired details in the Description field.
  4. Click Save and Close.

If you'd prefer to track it in a separate account, you can set up a credit card or current liability account:

  1. Head to the Accounting tab from the left and select Chart of Accounts.
  2. Click on New.
  3. Under Type select Credit Card or Other Current Liabilities.
  4. Under Name enter "Bank Credit."
  5. In Description, enter the limit available.
  6. Enter an opening Balance if needed.
  7. Click Save and close.
