Question

I made some Sales Tax Adjustments when filing with CRA. QBO makes journal entries for these. How do I reconcile these entries in my month-end reconciliation?

Hello Tam4,

Reconciling transactions has never been easier with QuickBooks. I'm glad you're using QB Online as your program of choice when it comes to handling your transactions. Great job on adjusting your sales tax on your end. I'll be happy to steer you towards the right path with this.

Before I provide further info, it's important you reach out to your accountant for expert advice on how to reconcile the transactions in questions. If you're not in contact with one, I encourage you to search for one on our website using this link here. Otherwise, I suggest browsing through these helpful resources with info on how to reconcile properly in QuickBooks:

Here are the steps for reconciling:

 1. Select the Gear icon on the Toolbar.
   2. Under Your Company, select Chart of Accounts.
   3. Locate the appropriate account for the transaction.
   4. From the Action column, select Account History.
   5. Identify the transaction to edit.
   6. In the reconcile status column (indicated by a check mark), repeatedly select the top line of the transaction to change the status of the transaction.

Codes indicate the status of the transaction:
             - Cleared
             - Reconciled
Blank - Not cleared or reconciled

   7. Select Save.

Give this a try and if you have questions, don't hesitate to reach back to me. I've got your back.
