Hello rn.convenience,

The reconciliation process can be a time-consuming one, but when you're using QuickBooks Online, you can complete it in no time. From time to time, mistakes happen. It's important to be able to correct them so that your books are as accurate as possible moving forward. Let me give you a hand with making a correction to your 2019 reconciliations to your Cash account.

One thing I'd like to mention is that if you've reconciled accounts in 2020 and 2021, you'll have to undo those reconciliations in order to correct those from 2019. You can navigate to the Account history for the account in question through the Chart of Accounts, then select the in the checkmark column until it's empty. Remember to Save your changes. You'll have to do this for every transaction that came after the period that you need to reconcile again.

If you're working with an accountant you can invite them to QuickBooks through the My Accountant tab and they'll be able to undo reconciliations for you at the touch of a button. If you don't have an accountant just yet, you're in luck. We have a database of QuickBooks-certified accountants known as ProAdvisors that would love to give you a hand. Navigate to the My Accountant tab again and use the FInd a pro to help button to find an accountant in your area. Your accountant can use the following article to undo your reconciliation easily: Undo a client’s reconciliation in QuickBooks Online Accountant.

If there's simply a deleted transaction, or you need to make a change to a transaction, all you'll need to do is unreconcile that one transaction, make the corrections, and reconcile it again using the method I outlined above. It's that easy!

If there's more I can do to help, just reply to this thread. I'm only a message away. Have a great weekend!
