Question

My client has entered the wrong date on a bank reconciliation. She has already reconciled 3 months after that one. How can I correct the date of the reconciliation?

Hi there louise45,

making sure your bank accounts balance correctly is an important part of your bookkeeping. QuickBooks makes it easy to verify this with the Reconcile feature, as you can verify which transactions appear both in your statements and in QuickBooks. I can provide you some information on the reconcile process.

When it comes to wanting to make modifications to a reconcile, the only way to do so would be to have a QuickBooks Online Accountant user undo the reconcile and redo it over with the correct dates. However, this would also undo all reconciles done after the incorrect one, so the three months prior would have to be reconciled once again.

If you're an Accountant accessing your client's books using QuickBooks Online Accountant, you can undo a reconcile by navigating to the Gear icon, then Reconcile. Select the bank or credit card account affected, then click History by account. Click on the drop-down beside the reconcile you want to undo, then select undo. This will undo the reconcile as well as all reconciliations for this account done after the one undone. Here's an article that goes more into detail about undoing a client's reconciliation in QuickBooks Online Accountant.
