Setting up multi-currency support, No currency drop down available

Hello,
I'll preface this by stating I am extremely frustrated as it is IMPOSSIBLE to get any support from Quickbooks and you get stuck in a chat bot loop of death while all other methods are not working.

I have signed up for Quickbooks Plus to have access to multi-currency support. I am based in Canada and have a few US clients who I need to invoice in USD.
I have enabled multi currency in my settings and turned USD on.
A) There is no way to change currency for existing customers, this seems to be a known issue.
B) I have tried setting up new customers, but there is no option to change the currency for new customers. There is no drop down or place where one could select a different currency.
C) in customer overview it lists the currency as CDN, but there is no option to change.

Thanks for any help.

Hi Whirlwind_86,

Welcome to the Community. It's essential set up multi-currency to keep track of your books. QuickBooks Online is a great program that gives you the ability to simply track your sales and expenses. I'd be glad to help.

When you enable multicurrency. the home currency cannot be changed. It's important to determine your home currency before enabling this option. If you have the correct home currency, I encourage you to review this article on how to assign a foreign currency to a customer in QuickBooks Online

At this time, the program doesn't offer the option to change currency for existing customers. If you'd like to include this option in QuickBooks, I recommend that you send us Feedback by clicking on the Gear icon at the top. This is sent to our Development Team to consider for future updates.

If there is no option to assign the currency to new customers, I encourage you to clear your browser cache and cookies. They can prevent the system from functioning effectively. You can refer to the following steps to perform browser troubleshooting.

If the steps provided above don't work, I recommend that you contact our customer support team. They will be able to take a closer look at this. Here are some options available to reach out to our team.

  • Phone: Call us at 1-855-253-1536 from Monday to Friday between the hours of 9 AM and 8 PM EST.
  • Schedule a Callback or start a Chat: click (?)Help in the upper right > type and enter "Contact support" into the QB Assistant > click Contact Us > explain your situation > click Let's Talk > choose Get a callback or Start a Chat.
  • Social MediaFacebookTwitter, in a private message.

Let me know if you have questions, I'll be happy to help.

I encountered the same problem. But not exactly the same. I am a newly created company file. When I turned on the option of multiple currencies for the first time, there was no currency to choose from in the currency option bar at the bottom after turning it on. It was an empty drop-down menu.

Hi there Chenchen,

Thanks for reaching out about your multicurrency setup. QuickBooks Online is a great tool able to help you create and send invoices so your clients know about the services offered by your company. I can provide some information about adding currencies.

One possible cause for information being blank in a drop-down menu would be browsing data. These temporary files can accumulate and cause errors like missing information in any cloud-based software like QuickBooks Online. You can use these steps to resolve issues caused by browsing data:
