Is anyone bothered at all by the discontinuation of scan manager in QB 2022 Desktop? See attached image.

Let me share some updates with you, @ICGTtreasurer.

I'm sad to inform you that the Scan Manager feature was discontinued in QuickBooks Desktop 2022, and it was replaced with Attach Documents. However, it can still be used in previous, currently supported versions.

If you have the latest version, you can now use the QuickBooks Desktop mobile app, upload your documents to the system using your mobile device. You can then add them to your invoices, purchase orders, or other transactions.

Know that QBDT currently supports PDFs and images with JPEG, JPG, GIF, or PNG format. To utilize this feature, you'll need to download the QuickBooks Desktop app.

Please refer to these links below on how to download them based on your device:

Once done, you can now start capturing and uploading the documents. If you're using the Android version, here's how you can do that:

  1. Open the QuickBooks Desktop Android app, then tap Document under Snap and Upload.
  2. Tap the company to upload bills to, then tap Continue.
  3. Tap Snap Document.
  4. Tap the Camera icon to take a picture of the bill or tap the Photos icon to upload your bill. If you need to, you can crop and rotate the photo.
  5. Tap Use this photo.
  6. Add a Name and Memo, then tap Upload photo then tap OK.
  7. Sign in to your Intuit Account and select the company to upload bills too. You’ll only need to do this once.
  8. Sign in to your QuickBooks Desktop company file to review, edit, and match bills to transactions.

If you're using the iOS version, please see the steps on the link attached: Attach documents to transactions in QuickBooks Desktop using mobile. It also contains steps on how to view and attach documents in QuickBooks Desktop.

I've also collected these resources that you can use for guidance and streamline your daily accounting tasks:

I do miss it terribly as well@

The audacity of Intuit to discontinue Scan Manager without warning is unforgiveable.  Despite the outcry I've not heard one word from Intuit about correcting this terrible mistake.  I won't forgive Intuit for their decision and am starting the process of changing software.  I do hope for the rest of you that Intuit corrects this wrong.

100% bothered by this and wish I would have known before purchasing and installing 2022 today. We would have more than likely abandoned QB altogether and probably will next go round of software install. I guess I have plenty of time to research other platforms. THIS IS REALLY IRRITATING. We used scan manager in every facet of the program we could.

This will be a huge inconvenience.

Pretty irritated. I often have documents that are several pages. Using my phone to scan is a joke. Why not have both options?

Allow me to provide you with some updates, @TeeArrArr.

I'm sad to report that in QuickBooks Desktop, the Scan Manager tool was removed and replaced with Upload Files. However, it is available in older and currently supported versions.

On the other side, all QuickBooks users can provide product ideas anytime. There is no limit to how much or how often you can submit feedback or thoughts to our developers.

It really is nice of you to respond, but the only product idea I have is to stop taking away things we use please.

I hate to say it, but I wonder if this will come back as some app with a fee attached, or only in some upper level software,  like the QuickBooks desktop app did.

I have a bad feeling things will slowly stripped away in Desktop, and only available in Online Advanced, until we are all forced to move into it, or move on.

I think we have a right to be disappointed.

Thank you.

It is completely disappointing to have the options to scan not available in the new 2022 QB. I was forced to "upgrade" (more like a downgrade) because they were going to stop making updates for my 2019 QuickBooks Pro Desktop and also my Payroll service. Plus the new QB2022 is $500/yearly plus annual payroll $500. When my 2019 was about 500$ (maybe cheaper) and i was able to use for almost 4 years. I may look into working with another software that is more conveniente to use.

Put scan manager back. Its a time saver.  Can not understand why you would discontinue such a useful tool.

Yes I was bothered by Intuit discontinuing Scan Manager without warning.  Having lost Scan Manager adds much inefficiency to our process of attaching scanned documents to our QB records.  We decided to leave the platform for a variety of reasons but notably because the losing Scan Manager.  It pisses me off that Intuit did this without warning and for about a year now hasn't yet brought it back.  They could bring it back if they wanted but those users who have complained evidently don't matter enough for them to do it quickly.

Had I realized Scan Manager had been discontinued I would not have upgraded.  This has caused much inefficiency in our process of attaching pdf copies of our vendor invoices to the QB record.  Put Scan Manager back.  Can you see all the angry posts? This is one of the best features in QBs.  Why take that away!

I have used QuickBooks since 1995, obviously I like working with the software.  Discontinuing the scanning feature in the attach document section is very disappointing.  I work with multiple companies and attaching documents through your mobile device is inefficient and confusing.  I agree with others, it is disappointing to transfer your company files to a new version and then find out it has major changes from previous versions.

I have learned to work with QuickBooks online, but until it becomes as robust as the desktop version I have clients that it simply does not work for.   One of the features that I do not like about QBO is that you cannot directly scan into the transaction.  Unfortunately instead of making online better incorporating the better features of desktop they are making desktop worse by incorporating features from online.

Just finished my update today. I'm really not sure what to say - they could have just added the mobile option and left the Scan Manager. We also scan hundreds of documents. We are growing - so I will be looking for a different software.

@buschr1

If you are using QBD Enterprise, we may recommend another program to explore.

June 21, 2022

That would be great. Taking away scan increased our labor time so much that we would love to explore a different software. I can be messaged at [email address removed]   Thank you
