Question

Access payroll forms from QBD Assisted Payroll subscription that ended in December 2021

Hello, I used QBD for 16 years. I moved to QBO 2 years ago.

While I used QBD, I subscribed to Assisted Payroll. I need to access my 941 forms for the year 2020 (while I was using QBD and a customer of Assisted payroll). Unfortunately, I have not found a way to access those filed and archived forms.

While I am able to access my old QBD file, I am unable to access archived forms through the payroll center. It will no longer let me in. I have called QBD and QBD payroll a few times without success making any progress.

Is there someone who can get me those 2020 quarterly 941 forms, please? Thanks for any thoughts and/or guidance. This has been exhausting and frustrating! Jen

P.S. The payroll tax forms did not import from QBD to QBO when I made the switch, FYI.

Hi there, Jen.

Thanks for letting us know you have spent time with our support agents on the phone. It isn't the impression we wish to leave you.

Although I'd love to look further into this for you, I don't have the same types of tools needed for the job as our Payroll Support agents do. You'll need to reach our payroll team so they can securely review your account and check your previously filed tax forms.

Here's how:

  1. Select QuickBooks Desktop Help from the Help menu.
  2. Click Contact Us.
  3. Type in a short description of your concern, then Continue.
  4. Choose a way to connect with support.

You may refer to this article for their time schedule: Contact Payroll Support.

Additionally, you'll want to check out this article to prepare and be ready for the next payroll: Year-end Checklist.

You can post anytime if you have other concerns about year-end tax preparations. I'm always here to lend a hand. Have a great rest of your day.

Thank you. It's not easy for me to access my old QBD account. I have to pull down an old computer from the attic to do this. Before I do, are you 100% confident that they will be able to access these forms for me? Because the last rep I spoke with in Payroll said they couldn't help me and that I no longer had access to the filed forms. Thanks for any further thoughts before I walk down that road again .... Hey there, @Roxy16.

Are you trying to view your past forms in QuickBooks Online Payroll? If so, you can use the following steps to locate them within the program. Please be aware that the steps will differ depending on whether you choose to e-file the form or print and file it manually.

If you will or have e-filed your tax form, or we filed for you:

  1. Select Taxes, then Payroll Tax.
  2. Click the Filings tab.
  3. View your current tax forms in the ACTION NEEDED or COMING UP section. Or select Resources, then Archived forms and filings for past forms.
    • If available, select Preview to view forms not yet filed.

If you manually filed your tax form

Step 1: Archive the form

  1. Go to Taxes, then Payroll Tax.
  2. Select the Filings tab.
  3. Next to the tax form you want to save or archive, click File.
  4. Select the period and then Archive.

Step 2: View the form

  1. Click Taxes, then Payroll Tax.
  2. Select the Filings tab.
  3. Click Resources and Archived forms and filings.
  4. Select the drop-down menu to filter the form type you want to view.
  5. Click the form name, then View.

Please note that if Intuit files the forms for you, all forms are available to view or print approximately 35 days after the end of the quarter. On the other hand, amended forms are available once your case is complete.

If you're unable to access your tax forms, I'd suggest getting in touch with our QuickBooks Payroll Team. They can securely review your account and check your previously filed tax forms.

In case you're using QuickBooks Desktop Payroll, you can check out this article to view your payroll tax forms: How to view previously filed tax forms in QuickBooks
