it looks like I had the wrong date for effective date when making some payroll liability

adjustments. just a dumb mistake when not familiar with the adjustment process.

Now I have to adjust the adjustment.

is there some place the adjustments are recorded or registered that I see what I have

done?

I also find this important to see the previous payroll liability adjustment, @bbxrider.

I can share some directions to view the previous payroll liability adjustments. Usually, you can see the prior adjustments recorded in the affected accounts like bank register, payroll liability, and expense accounts. Please follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Lists menu, then select Chart of Accounts.
  2. Click the account in question that you want to open.
  3.  Then, select Report.
  4. Choose Quick Report [name of the account].
  5. Select the Dates drop-down menu, then choose Custom.
  6. Enter the specific date you want to see, then click on Refresh.
  7. Once done, you'll see all the data in the report.

However, if the liability adjustments are set to Do not affect accounts, you will find the adjustment/s by clicking the Previous Adjustment button when you create a new payroll liability adjustment. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Employees menu and then select Payroll Taxes and Liabilities, then Adjust Payroll Liabilities.
  2. Select the Previous Adjustment button until you find the adjustment affecting the report.
  3. Select the Accounts Affected button.

This will point you to the right direction.

In addition, you can use this article as your future reference when adjusting the payroll liability amounts: Payroll Liabilities and/or Balance Sheet Report shows incorrect amounts for payroll liabilities.
