Question

All employees are exempt from SUI, but automated taxes wants me to fill in my account #, but the GA DOL won't give me one. How to fix this?

I applied for a UI account, but my application was returned because we are exempt. How can I convince QB that I don't need that?

I acknowledge that applying UI using QuickBooks Online Payroll is important to your business. Let me share some knowledge with you.

If the State of Georgia Department of Labor doesn't provide an SUI rate because you're exempt, you can remove the rate or leave it blank in QuickBooks Online Payroll. If you still have issues, set the SUI account number to 0.00% and review the employee information. If problems persist, contact our Support Team.

Here's how to exempt your business from SUI:

  1. Select Settings ⚙, and then click Payroll Settings
  2. From your [State] tax, select Edit ✎, and leave the SUI account number blank.
  3. Enter your SUI rate: 0.00% and if applicable, select any tagalong or surcharge rates: 0.00%
  4. Select OK, and then select Done.
