An employee changed their last name. I updated all the information in Quickbooks and that syncs correctly with Quickbooks, but display name has old last name.

I want to ensure this is taken care of, Jason.

Currently, we're investigating why an employee's name doesn't update after correcting it on the employee list in QuickBooks Online (QBO). Please be assured that our engineers are working diligently to resolve this problem.

I recommend contacting our QuickBooks Support Team to be added to the affected users list for email updates on the investigation's status and resolution notification. To expedite the transaction, provide this investigation number INV-102085.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the (?) Help icon.
  2. Select Talk to a Human.
  3. Enter a short description of your concern.
  4. Click on I still need a human.
  5. Tap Contact Us to connect with our live support.
  6. Choose to Get a callback.

Just in case, I'll be adding these articles to help you remove and edit employee information in QuickBooks:

Following up on this thread because we are also unable to change Employee Display Name.  The drop-down menu for Employee Display Name is no longer available under "Personal Info" of the Employee Profile, and the Employee Display Name remains the same no matter what we do to the First and Last Name of the employee.

Employee Display Name is also called Employee Ref.Name when we perform Spreadsheet Sync.  We need to be able to change the Employee Display Name so all the hours can match to the same employee.

How may we change the Employee Display Name?  Has the Engineering Team discovered a solution?  Or can we have the drop down menu back - this option was available in 2022, but no longer available now.

Thank you for the information, @MJ_MES. You may change the employee display name through the Personal Info section. Let me guide you through the steps.

Editing the employee display name can still be done in the Personal Info page. Although, you'll need to click the Show display name first.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Payroll menu and select Employees.
  2. Select your employee.
  3. From the Personal info box, click Edit.
  4. Click the Show display name.
  5. Update the display name, then Save.
