You'll want to make sure that the pay date of the bonus check is under the year 2021. This way, it'll be included in your 2021 year-end payroll tax forms. Since the bonus check goes on 2022, we'll need to delete the bonus check and recreate it with the correct pay date. Here's how:
Sign in to your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account.
Click Payroll from the left menu, then select Employees.
Select the Paycheck list link under Run payroll.
Choose the correct date range, then select the bonus check you want to delete.
Click the Delete button.
Mark the box for I understand that this action cannot be undone.
Thanks for your help. I did all of that but it says with a pay date of 12/31/2021 late payroll tax payment penalty may apply and it won't let me do it.
Since you're still unable to post the bonus check even after entering the pay date accordingly, I recommend contacting our Payroll Care Team. One of our specialists online has the tool to help enter the bonus check. I'll show you how.
Go to Help.
Select Search
Click Contact Us.
Enter a few words describing how the system is not letting you record the bonus check the What can we help you with? field.
Select Continue.
Click Message an agent or Get a callback.
