By mistake i click to pay on 940 01/01/2022 to 12/31/2022 Q4 it's not due until 01/27/2023 how can i cancel it/

The 940 is an annual federal tax form used to report wages subject to taxes paid for FUTA. Since the 940 tax payments are manually recorded in QuickBooks Online, we still have an option to delete them. I'll show you how to do it.

 

QuickBooks allows us to delete the payroll tax once the payment has not been processed. We can cancel a federal tax payment two business days before the due date, before 5 p.m. PST.

 

Here's how:

 

  1. Select Taxes, and choose Payroll tax.
  2. Under Tax resources, select Tax payment history.
  3. Select the name of the tax payment. Change the date range if necessary.
  4. From the View and Print Form drop-down, hit the Delete button. 
  5. Select Yes to confirm.

 

However, we must contact our phone support if the tax fee has already processed electronically, transmitted, or accepted by the agency. 

 

Follow these steps:

 

  1. Sign in to your QuickBooks account.
  2. Click the (?) Help icon and enter Talk to a human (then type it again when prompted).
  3. When asked by the bot, enter "delete 940 tax".
  4. Select I still need a human, then proceed with Contact us or Get help from a human.
  5. Choose either Chat or Callback.
