Question

Can I add an individual contractor to Workforce? I'm a Quickbooks Online user with payroll and Workforce time tracking for my full-time employees.

If this is not possible, what's the most efficient way to allocate his time to projects for tracking?

Yes, you can, @jeddinger. Allow me to guide you to add your contractor to QuickBooks Workforce so they can allocate their time to projects.

If you've already integrated your QBO with QuickBooks Time, you can go to the Time tab to add your contractors and allow them to log their hours. However, they need to be invited to QuickBooks Time before they can set up and use their account.

To do that:

  1. In your QBO account, go to Time and select Time Team.
  2. Click the Add team members dropdown, then Add contractor.
  3. On the Expenses page, select Add your first contractor or Add a contractor.
  4. Fill out the required fields and click Add contractor.

For more information, please refer to this article: Add and manage team members for QuickBooks Time.

Furthermore, you can run the itemized total time report for QuickBooks Time to show the total hours worked against each job or customer.

Feel free to reach out to us if you have other questions about inviting a contractor to Workforce. We're always here to help. Keep safe.
