Yes, you can add an international employee that has no Social Security Number, johnson. I'll go over some details on how.

You must have your employee provide their visa or SSN information by filling out the I-9 Form (Employment Eligibility Verification). Both US citizens and non-citizens are included in this. After completion, you can start recording payroll, but you will need to use a third-party provider for payroll remittance.

Browse the following web pages to get a copy of the form:

Once you're good, feel free to also read the year-end guide for QuickBooks Online. This contains helpful information about what you need to prepare to close out the previous year and start a new one.

I'd be delighted to assist further regarding payroll or QuickBooks. Just comment back for more help. Stay healthy and have a good one!

Hello Michelle - thanks for your response.

Need your help pls. I've prepared the I-9 Forms and have them signed. Next step is adding them as employees on Quickbooks but SSN is still a required field. please advise on how to proceed.

Thank you.

Thanks for the update, Johnson . I'll guide you through the following steps so you can proceed with adding your employees to QuickBooks.

Since the I-9 forms have already been signed, the IRS can assign a unique number to your employees. In this case, I recommend contacting them and ask your employee's SSN.

To obtain a specific telephone number, follow this link and go directly to the IRS Phone Numbers and Tax Help Options section: Let Us Help You

After getting it, you can continue adding your employee and processing direct deposit payroll

In addition, check out the following articles below to learn how to handle your employee's information, direct deposit, and other related matters:

If you have any questions about payroll or employees, keep me informed. I'm eager to assist you. Stay safe, @Johnson.
