Can I cancel one of my employees paychecks after running payroll?

I ran payroll for all of my employees yesterday. Today I need to cancel one of the paychecks. How do I cancel one paycheck already run in payroll?

Thanks for dropping by here in the Community. I can share some information about canceling a submitted payroll in QuickBooks Online.

 

QuickBooks may allow you to void or delete a paycheck depending on the processing time and payroll subscription. QBO has two options in deleting/canceling a check:

 

  • Delete a paycheck: This removes the transaction from your payroll. You can do this if the paycheck hasn't been processed yet.
  • Void a paycheck: This changes your paycheck records and updates the paycheck dollar amount to zero. You may need to make adjustments to balance your books. This does not stop a direct deposit from processing and does not return funds to you.

If you're using Direct Deposit, you will need to delete the transactions before 5 PM, two banking days before the check date. Otherwise, we will not be able to stop the transactions from posting to the employee's accounts.
