We are setting up a new company and all of our employees are starting on July 1st.  I mistakenly entered first pay date as June 30 and it should be August 1.  Can I change that first pay date?

Hi, @MarshaClark. It's great to have you in the QuickBooks Community again.

If you are still setting up payroll for your new company and you need to change the first pay date for your employees, our Support Team can help you make the change. I'm glad to provide further details about this in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

To edit the pay date of an employee's existing pay schedule, you can contact our Support Team to have them do the process for you. Rest assured that they can also guide you to the next steps. Here's how to contact them:

  1. Go to Help (?) in your QBO account.
  2. Select Contact Us.
  3. Enter your concern, then select Let's talk.
    • Choose a way to connect with us: Start a chat with a support expert.
    • Get a callback from the next available expert.

Alternatively, consider adding a different pay schedule with a different name to avoid confusion. For the detailed steps, you can check out this article: Set up and manage payroll schedules

If on the other hand, you mean updating the pay date of the previous payroll in your new company, please know that we can only delete the paychecks. Then, recreate them with the correct pay date.

To get helpful insights about your new business and employees, I'm adding this article for future reference in running QBO payroll reports: Run payroll reports.

We'll be here in the Community if you have further questions about updating payroll info in QBO. We're committed to offering ongoing support. Take care.
