Can I delete a state income tax payment and recreate it?

I suspect I have made a mistake when setting the State Income tax by selecting "corporation income" instead of "Individual".
How can I fix it?

You’re on the right track of asking for assistance, zhua1216.

I’ll share information about deleting a state tax payment using QuickBooks Online (QBO).

The option is only available if your automatic tax payments and form filings are turned off. Also, there are factors to be considered before doing so. To elaborate, you can delete a payment if:

  • The tax payment is manually recorded in your QuickBooks Online Payroll.
  • Your federal payment is dated two days before the payment date and before 5 PM PST.
  • The state payment date is before the lead time. Please note that state lead times vary.

Otherwise, tax payments can no longer be deleted. However, if you’re able to meet the requirements to delete a tax payment, you may want to proceed to the steps below:

  1. Navigate to the Taxes menu from the left navigation bar and select Payroll tax.
  2. Press the Payment history, then choose the tax payment you want to delete. You can change the range of dates if necessary.
  3. Click the Delete from the Edit dropdown. If the option to delete is not visible, then deleting this is not an option.
  4. Lastly, select Yes to confirm.

Furthermore, I added this article for more details on when you can delete a tax payment in QBO: Cancel payroll tax payments and forms.
