Question

Can I see a tax payment in the bank register as a future payment?

In the past, a tax payment that has a future settlement date was accounted for in the bank register, with a colored line separating all future scheduled transactions from those to date.  Why doesn't this show up anymore?  I tried refreshing the page and checked in the Payroll Tax tab to be sure the payment was logged and all is well there, just can't see in the bank register.

Hi, @kritter5386. I can help you with finding your tax payment.

The transaction should appear in the register. Since the payment is for future dates, ensure to filter the dates correctly. You can set it to All if needed.

Here's how:

  1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account.
  2. Select Accounting from the sidebar menu, then Chart of Accounts.
  3. Locate the bank account holding the transaction.
  4. Click the View register link from the Action column.
  5. Select the Funnel icon, then set the filters to All.
  6. Hit Apply, then find the tax payment.

You can also open the transaction from the Tax payment history page to check if it was entered into the correct bank account. If not, modify the entry.

On the other hand, you can run your payroll reports if you need to track your employee expenses and payroll liabilities.
