In desktop a liability payment was generated as we withheld garnishment payments. QBO doesn't seem to keep track of this or am I missing a set up feature?

Yes, @Ruth11_2. QuickBooks tracks the garnishment payments. In a few steps, I'll show you how to do it.

If your QuickBooks payroll service is operational, you can create a garnishment item to track the payment. After doing this, it offsets the amount.

See the steps outlined below:

  1. Go to the Payroll menu, then Employees.
  2. Choose the employee's name.
  3. Select edit ✎ beside Pay.
  4. Choose edit ✎ to add a deduction.
  5. On the drop-down, select Garnishment and Garnishment Type.
  6. Enter the description, amount requested, and the maximum percent of disposable income.
  7. Click OK once done.
