had three entries in 4 days from an unauthorized source, hacking an account. I would like to know if there is tracking information about where that user was when it was posted.

Let me share some information about how the program tracks your entries, rightpathcfo.

The option to track an unauthorized source where that user was when the entries were posted is unavailable. However, we can use the Audit Log feature in QuickBooks Online (QBO). The program records all your financial transactions in your chart of accounts and all activities in the audit log. This includes the user sign-ins, changes to QuickBooks settings, edits to customers, vendors, employees, and payroll submissions. QuickBooks records the following in the audit log:

  • The date of any change to your books
  • The name of the user who made the change
  • The type of change or event
  • The name of any customer or vendor related to the change
  • Any original transaction date and amount

To use this feature, just follow the steps below:

  1. You need to sign in as an admin to access the audit log. Ask your primary admin if you don’t see it.
  2. Go to the Gear icon on the top menu and select Audit Log.
  3. Tap Filter.
  4. Use the fields on the Filter panel to choose the appropriate UserDate, or Events filter to narrow the results.
  5. Press Apply.

Here's an article you can refer to for more details about using the audit log in QuickBooks Online. If you need to track an entry to an unauthorized source, it would be best to consult your IT personnel about this one.
