Question

Can you adjust the pay period when pay is monthly but the pay date varies each month...ie, some months there are 4 weeks and some are 5 weeks?

With Online Payroll, when monthly is selected, there isn't an option to set the beginning of pay period.  How do I account for pay periods that could have 4 weeks verses 5 weeks

Hello there, treasurer.

I understand the importance of modifying the pay period when running payroll.

In QuickBooks Online Payroll, setting the beginning of the pay period is unavailable when the monthly pay frequency is selected. This limitation might lead to discrepancies in accounting for pay periods that consist of different numbers of weeks.

We understand your need for functionality and would love to hear your thoughts by sending us feedback on your QuickBooks Online company. Your input helps our product developers consider future functionality enhancements.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon and then select Feedback.
  2. Type in your feature request in the description box.
  3. Click on Next.

In the meantime, consider manually processing payroll each month for accurate pay period display on employees' pay stubs.
