Question

Canceling QB Payroll

Hello,

We no longer use the Quickbooks Payroll service. We still use Quickbooks Desktop Pro Plus 2021 for all over accounting purposes.

Due to this, I was curious if I canceled my payroll service subscription, would that cause me to lose access to all of the payroll records that are in our system? I don't want to risk losing that data that I still need to keep if I cancel it.

Hi RL26.

It depends on the payroll subscription you have. I'm here to share more information on what will happen after canceling your QuickBooks Desktop Payroll.

If you have the Payroll Assisted version, you will continue to access copies of your payroll tax returns online through the Canceled Client Payroll Tax Center until June of the year following the date of cancelation. You will not receive paper copies of these returns. However, you can access them through the Payroll Tax Center page.

If you have the QuickBooks Desktop Payroll Enhanced, Standard, or Basic versions, you can still access your payroll data, but you won't be able to recreate any tax forms. Thus, be sure to save a copy of all the tax forms you created or e-filed.

You can check this reference for more information: What happens to your payroll data after you cancel?
