Welcome to the Community, @richcova777.

Changing bank account for payroll in QuickBooks Online (QBO) is pretty quick. This can be done by going through the payroll settings. Let me show you how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon at the top right to get to the Payroll Settings
  2. Select Company under Bank Accounts section.
  3. Tick the Update button.
  4. Click the Connect using your routing and account numbers link, then enter the correct bank account information.
  5. Hit OK, got it to complete.

For further guidance about the process. consider checking out this article: Change bank account information.

I want to make sure everything is taken care of for you, so please let me know if you have any other issues or concerns. I'm more than happy to assist. Have an amazing rest of the day!

I don't have the screen in Step 2.

My options are Email Notifications, Shared data, Direct Deposit (which only has financial limits), Printing, and Accounting.

Accounting will let me change the register to which payroll posts, but not the bank account.

I am switching banks and need to move my payroll to the new bank.

Thanks for joining on this thread, @RayanneB.

The steps provided above is intended for QuickBook Online users. This is the reason why you have a different user interface in the Payroll Settings.

Base on how you describe the option in your payroll settings, it seems that you're using QuickBooks Online (QBO) for Accountant. No worries, I can still provide you the steps on how you can change to a different bank in QBO for accountant.

  1. Go to the Gear icon at the top right to get to the Payroll Settings
  2. Click the Pencil icon in the Direct Deposit section.
  3. Update the bank information and click OK to save.

Once done, we'll verify your new account with a test transaction. I've listed things you need to know about test transactions before you get started.

  • After changing your bank account information, a test transaction should appear in your bank statement in 2-3 business days.
  • This amount should be a debit and credit of less than $1.00.
  • You can call your bank or check your bank statement online to verify the amount.

After making the changes, update your bank account in the export preferences. This ensures the paychecks processed through the new bank account are properly listed in the correct check register.

That should do it! Stay in touch with us here in the Community.
