Changing a "Check" to a "Paycheck"

We have a new client who has just provided us with his Quickbooks Desktop file from his previous accountant. All payroll detail is within the software, but the previous CPA was using a different payroll software to calculate the paychecks and liabilities, then re-entering the calculated data to QB. Is there a way to change these "checks" to "paychecks" without reentering everything in the Payroll Setup process? The data is already there, it just is categorized as a check instead of a paycheck and not showing up on any of the payroll reports.

There is no way to change checks to paychecks. Checks don't contain nearly enough information for that to be possible.

While the statement may be true that it's not possible to change the type within QB, the "checks" in this instance contain all the detail as if they had been run through the payroll module, though they were written after the fact. I will continue to research and hope to find a solution.
