Question

Child Support Deductions

I utilize Quickbooks Online, and Quickbooks payroll services.

I have an employee who has a court ordered wage garnishment for child support. I set up the garnishment on the employee profile, and with the State Platform where payments are to be sent, this automatically recurs every pay day.

My question is how do I record the child support payment that is sent to the State in Quickbooks Online?

Let me help you record the child support payment on your Online account, heathers801.

You'll need to pay the agencies or creditors directly as specified in the garnishment order or tax levy. We can create a check-in QBO to record the garnishment payment that is sent to the State. Here's how it's done:

  1. Click the + New Plus icon.
  2. Select Check.
  3. Choose the Payee from the dropdown.
  4. From the Bank account dropdown, select the account the check withdraws money from.
  5. Complete the check fields you need.
  6. Tap the Print check option if you want to open the check queue to print now. Or select the Print later checkbox if you want to print the check later.
  7. Press Save and close to close the check window. Or Save and new if you need to create another check.
