Question

Cleaning expense that’s not taxed or 1099

I use quick books online. Currently I pay my weekly cleaner 275 dollars before taxes. After taxes it ends up being around 180.

I want to pay them so taxes don’t get taken out. And I also don’t want it to be a 1099 that he claims.

How can I input that into quickbooks?

You can add them as a vendor, and make sure to leave the Track payments for the 1099 box unchecked during the setup process, joshpanecki. Let me provide you with some guidance on how to add them effectively.

You'll want to go to the Expenses menu to add the cleaner in QuickBooks. If you pay them less than $600 in a calendar year, you are not required to file a Form 1099-NEC with the IRS.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Expenses menu and choose Vendors.
  2. Click New Vendor.
  3. Complete the fields in the Vendor information window.
  4. In the Additional info column ensure not to check the Track payments for 1099 box.
  5. Once done, click Save.

For more details about the process, see this article: Add a vendor in QuickBooks Online. Then, you can record their payment normally.
