Question

Company with roaming employees and direct deposit

Please advise, I'm sure there are companies out there that have roaming employees and do direct deposit.

If I have someone working in two states, they have 2 different Employee Profiles, and they get two separate paychecks.  When we go live w DD, they will get 2 deposits on same day to their bank.  I read somewhere that QB won't make 2 deposits for same pay period to the same bank acct.

Please tell me that is not the case.

Thanks!

Hi there. I'd be glad to share a few things about direct deposit.

In QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT), it is indeed possible to set up direct deposits for employees who work in multiple states. However, QBDT does not allow multiple direct deposits to the same bank account for the same pay period.

In your case, it's best to seek for an accountant's advice to work with multi-state direct deposit payroll and taxes. This way, an expert can determine to what payroll taxes your workers' services may be subject to.

I've added an article for a guide about setting up multi-state taxes: Set up employees and payroll taxes in a new state.

Feel free to leave a comment below for further questions. We'd be glad to assist. Have a nice day.

I know QBDT will direct deposit twice into one banking account, I've been direct depositing mine and my spouse's into same bank account.  Will it will work for my roaming employees, since they have a separate employee profile for each state?

I have a client on QB Desktop.  He has an employee from Mexico and would like his Direct Deposit to  be sent to a Mexican Bank.  Is that possible?

Hello Karen, thank you for joining this thread. Allow me to provide some insights about using Direct Deposit.

Direct Deposit is a convenient way to receive payments from your employer directly into your bank account. However, please note that this service is only available for U.S. bank accounts.

Since Mexican Bank is a foreign bank, you won't be able to use this feature. If the employee doesn't have a US Bank Account, consider creating a paper check instead.

I've added this article to keep updated with the latest payroll news and updates in QuickBooks Desktop Payroll.

You can check this out to learn how you can run a Payroll Summary Report to view your payroll totals, including employee taxes and contributions: Create a Payroll Summary Report

Let me know in the comment section if you have further concerns related to direct deposit in QBDT. I'll be right here, ready to answer. Have a great day.
