Question

Custom PTO Name

Hello, we use QB Online Payroll and QB Online Timesheets. The two programs didn't seem to have been developed at the same time, and only later did the devs try to merge these two platforms, making for a bad experience.

My employees receive the following:

  • Vacation
  • Sick
  • Floating Holidays
  • Unpaid Time Off

I cannot add a custom PTO name on QBO payroll. QB online time sheets do not sync back to QB Online Payroll in terms of custom names. Right now, I have "Paid Time Off" at 16 hours at the start of each year because each employee gets two floating holidays, but the employees are always confusing their vacation time with paid time off, and I want to change the Paid Time Off name to Floating Holidays.

Please advise.

Hi, Jschaffer.

I'm here to provide information about the Paid Time Off (PTO) option in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

Currently, the ability to change or create a custom PTO name is unavailable in QBO. I can see how having this option would be helpful for you and your business.

While this isn't available yet, I highly suggest sending feedback directly to our product developers. They are always looking for ideas to consider on how to improve QuickBooks. Here's how to do it:

  1. In QBO, go to the Gear (Settings) icon at the top right.
  2. Select Feedback.
  3. Enter your comments or product suggestions.
  4. Click Next to submit feedback.
