Direct Deposit

I'm here to help you identify why your inactive employee's direct deposit automatically changes in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT). 

Let's run the Audit Trail Report in your account to review all the company activities. This way, we can distinguish if other users change the Direct Deposit settings. 

Here's how: 

1. Click Reports at the top menu bar and choose Account & Taxes.
2. Select Audit Trail
3. On the report screen, click Customize Report.
4. Go to the Filter tab, then choose appropriate details. 
5. Review all the data. 

If you see that some users change it, please talk to that user. If there isn't, I'd suggest communicating with our Customer Care Team. They have advance tools to examine the root cause of the problem.

1. Go to the Help menu, then choose QuickBooks Desktop Help.

Yes, I think this is something that happens when you send your direct deposit payroll orders to Intuit.  If you saw the routing numbers change, that's probably intuit downloading updated ones they receive from the banks in response to the DD orders they send into the ACH system for you.

It often happens when banks update the routing numbers they want for ACH orders, or they merge with another bank or similar sort of event. I expect they update all the employees regardless of whether or not they're current, the goal being that if you ever send a DD order for the employee it'll work.

Received an email today that inactive employee's (last paid in 2017) bank account had been added to direct deposit.  I did not do this.  Called support and they simply would not believe that I did not do it.  Just assumed it was me and not an issue with Quickbooks.  My email  has not been compromised.  I am very concered that an unknown person could make this kind of change to my payroll account - has this happened to anyone else
