I've been looking for the fee schedule for direct deposit and haven't been able to find the information. I'm using basic payroll on desktop. Can anyone help me with what the fees would be to start using direct deposit?

Thanks!

Your confusion ends here, @JHelming1.

Allow me to fill you in on everything about the direct deposit fees for QuickBooks Desktop with Basic payroll.

There will be a standard fee of $1.75 for every Direct Deposit transaction processed in QuickBooks for employees and vendors for existing customers using the old payroll services. However, if you currently subscribe to the new payroll offered by Intuit, it does not have Direct Deposit fees for employees. But there will be additional fees that may apply to the number of employees you process payroll at a given month period, which is $2/employee per month.

Besides, if you're processing Direct Deposit for 1099 contractors (which isn't included with the per-employee fee), you'll still get a $1.75 fee for every Direct Deposit check paid towards the vendor account.

Have the fees increased?

I am running Quickbooks Enhanced Payroll for Accountants and I just ran two checks for my employer and the fee shows as $3.71.  It used to be $ 3.50.

Thank you

Jane

I have had a basic payroll subscription for 10 years or longer - I am now looking at setting up direct deposit.  How can I tell if I have the old payroll or the new payroll?

Nice to have you join this thread, @jaybonk.

I’d be glad to share with you some information on how to set up your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) software for Direct Deposit (DD).

To set up DD for your company, you’ll need to prepare your:

  • Business name, address and EIN

  • Online bank credentials or bank routing and account numbers

Then connect your bank for DD. To be guided through the whole process, you can refer to the steps outlined in this article: Set up your company payroll for direct deposit.

Also, in regards to knowing your payroll subscription, you can refer to this link for reference: Find your QuickBooks Payroll service.

In case you want to change your payroll service, you can utilize this resource for the detailed steps: Upgrade or downgrade your QuickBooks Payroll plan.

how to set up for Direct Deposit

July 14, 2021

I'm thrill to walk you through how to set up Direct Deposit in QuickBooks Desktop, willbid.

To set up direct deposit for your company, you’ll need the following info:

  • Business name, address, and EIN
  • Principal officer social security number, birth date, and home address
  • Online bank credentials or bank routing and account numbers

Once you have it, connect your bank account to QuickBooks. Let me show you how:

  1. Sign in with the QuickBooks admin username and password.
  2. Tap Employees, and My Payroll Service, then Activate Direct Deposit.
  3. Hit Get Started.
  4. If you don’t see the Get Started button, select I’m the admin, and I’m the primary person who can… and enter the admin’s email address or user ID. Then, Continue. Once done, enter the email or user ID and password for your Intuit Account, and tap Sign In.
  5. Press Start on the Business tab and fill in the info. Then, Next.
  6. Fill in the Principal officer info. Then, Next.
  7. Hit Add new bank account.
  8. Enter the name of your bank and then enter your online bank credentials or if prompted, your bank routing and account numbers.
  9. Create a PIN. You’ll use this when sending your payroll to us each time. Confirm your PIN twice, then select Submit.
  10. Select Next, then Accept and Submit. If prompted, confirm the Principal officer’s full social security number. Then, Submit.

Then, proceed to Step 3 until Step 5 in the Set up your company payroll for direct deposit article under the QuickBooks Desktop Payroll section. In case you want to change your payroll service, see the Upgrade or downgrade your QuickBooks Payroll plan article for the steps and details.
