Direct Deposit into more than two accounts - UPDATE PLEASE

I have an employee who's been direct depositing into three accounts through our current payroll company. We are switching to QB Payroll, but it looks like QB payroll only allows direct deposits into two accounts. I saw an old thread from about 18 months ago with people requesting this feature (direct deposit into more than two accounts), but it appears it still isn't available. Is there a workaround for this? Will QB fix this feature soon? I hate to take away a benefit my employees have had just because I'm switching to QB payroll. Thanks!

Welcome to the Community forum, belindasray. I appreciate your input from every angle.

As of this time, the option to Direct Deposit payroll into more than two accounts is unavailable. You can choose to deposit into two accounts, either in amount or percentage in which the remainder will goes to the second account.

A suggestion like this helps us determine what enhancements and improvements are needed to make our product more effective and convenient to use. Enhancements to QuickBooks functionalities are largely the results of feedback provided by users, such as yourself.

While we continue to make your experience with us even better, I encourage you to check our QuickBooks New Features to be updated of the latest product enhancements. Here's how:

  1. Go to Help.
  2. Click New Features.
  3. You can either choose New Feature Tour or What's New.

Moreover, I don’t like to leave you empty-handed, you'll want to visit our Community Help Articles hub in case you need some related articles in managing your account.

You're welcome to stop by the Community if you need anything else. I'm always here and ready to help. Have a pleasant day ahead!

there is a need for QuickBooks to allow more than two direct deposits per employee. We are in the process of switching to QuickBooks to and this is a major drawback for us as we have several employees that directly deposit into either three accounts. since receiving the feedback in June from the prior contributor, has QuickBooks started to enhance the product by allowing for more than two direct deposit? if no, are there any plans to do so?

There isn't a way to do this with QuickBooks alone.

If your bank will accept NACHA files from you, consider using our BRC Direct Deposit File Creator

It will let you send DD orders to up to 7 banks per paycheck or standard bank check (written to a vendor, for example.)

I use an Intuit form for our employees direct deposit. On the form it lists depositing to two accounts. Now you tell me I cannot do this in QuickBooks online. Crazy. I guess I will have to alter the form and not allow employees to have this option.

Hi Beth. My question was about depositing into MORE than two accounts in QB. Two accounts can definitely be done. My old payroll company didn't have limits, and we had an employee depositing into three different accounts. That's what I was hoping there was a way to do, but as of yet there isn't. Two, though, is fine.

Thanks for getting in touch with us, @BethFL,

If you're using QuickBooks Online, you are able to use two employee accounts for Direct Deposit. To set them up, follow the steps and series of screenshots below:

  1. Go to the Payroll menu then Employees tab.
  2. Click the employee name then press Edit Employee.
  3. Scroll down to the bottom and find step 6, How do you want to pay [Employee Name].
  4. From the drop-down, choose Direct Deposit to two accounts.
  5. From there, you can enter the accounts an employee will want to use.

Hi Beth! Any info on updating QB Online to be able to direct deposit into more that two accounts?  This is beginning to frustrate my employees and will soon start us looking elsewhere for a payroll provider.

I would also like for QuickBooks to work for more than two accounts, txgatorboy1.

At this time, you can only use up to two employee accounts for Direct Deposit in QuickBooks Online (QBO). However, we don't stop working on what is good for the business and for our customers as well. You'll want to check out our QuickBooks Blog for any updates to stay current of QuickBooks innovation.

In the meantime, you can use two accounts for your payroll as provided by my colleague @Jen_D. This will be our closest alternative as of the moment.

I agree, an update is NEEDED. More than 2 direct deposits per employee should be permitted.

February 11, 2021

Quickbooks!!! Please update your system. This is ridiculous that we cannot set up employees for more than 2 split direct deposits!!

I too would like to see the more than two accounts feature implemented sooner, rather than later! The code is already there for the current two. It cannot be that complicated to add a couple more

August 18, 2021

Here in mid-August 2021 and this still hasn't been resolved. We need this as well.

August 18, 2021

Still nothing on this, many months later? We need this as well.

Greetings, @nabelekt.

Let me share some information about direct deposit to employee's multiple accounts.

Currently, the feature that you want which is to do a direct deposit to more than 2 accounts for employees is not yet available. QuickBooks can deposit to not more than 2 accounts. There is still no update for this feature to be added. Yet, we can't provide a timeframe on when is it going to be available.

I'm adding this article to guide you in setting up direct deposit for employees: Set up direct deposit for employees.

Still using Intuit Online Payroll. Can a payroll direct deposit be split into 2 accounts?

September 14, 2021

I was just reading through this information and i a wondering if any has changed in a year?  Are there more than two direct deposit accounts available for employees?

Let me add a few details regarding Direct Deposit, Jbuter11.

For now, you can only add up to two bank accounts per employee for Direct Deposit.

I know how important it is for some businesses. I suggest sending feedback directly to our software engineers. They take note of our users' ideas and insights. Here's how:

  1. Click the Gear icon.
  2. Select Feedback.

The more request it has, the more likely it'll be added in future updates.

Once the feature is added, you can set it up for your employee.

Don't hesitate to reach out to us again if you have other payroll concerns. We're just one post away. Take care!

January 10, 2022

Still, going into 2022 and we are needing this feature as well. Please add!

Thanks for joining the Community, ledgerrite.

I can certainly understand how an ability to direct deposit into two different banks accounts for an employee could be useful and have submitted a suggestion about it as of today.

You can also submit your own feature requests while using QuickBooks.

Here's how:

  1. In the top menu bar, go to Help, Send Feedback Online, then Product Suggestion....
  2. Choose a Type of Feedback and Product Area (optional) from your available drop-down menus.
  3. Enter any suggestions/feedback in the Here is my suggestion: field.
  4. If you'd like, include your name/email in the My name is: (optional) and My e-mail address is: (optional) fields.
  5. Select Send Feedback.

Your feedback's definitely valuable to Intuit. It will be reviewed by our Product Development team and considered in future updates. You can stay up-to-date with the latest news about your product by reviewing Intuit's Product Updates webpage.

Please feel welcome to post a reply if there's any questions. Have a lovely day!

Thanks, I send suggestions quite often and have sent SEVERAL times for this.  QB should allow multiple accounts for direct deposits not just two.  It is a complaint/request I hear from our employees ALL THE TIME. The costs to operate using QB should easily include this feature

My company needs this as well. We have a new employee that wants to direct deposit into three accounts. Still no option and we’re into late 2022

I know this isn't easy for you, Gauchofife.

As of now, you can set up two direct deposits per employee. While the option to add three accounts is unavailable, I'd suggest sending feedback to our developer's team.

Here's how to share a feature request:

For QuickBooks Desktop:

  1. From the Help menu, select Send Feedback Online.
  2. Select Product suggestion.
  3. Enter your suggestion.
  4. Click Send Feedback.

For QuickBooks Online:

  1. Click the Gear icon.
  2. Under PROFILE, select Feedback.
  3. Enter a description of your feedback.
  4. Click Next.

I know this isn't easy for you, @Adrian_A. Year after year, having to provide the same feedback that this feature isn't available while customer after customer asks for an update. I get that devs are focused on features which are going to provide the highest impact and ROI, but this seems like an 'easy' one to knock out. And yes, I get that the definition of 'easy' is subjective. But please... can you give us a real update regarding whether or not this is even on the roadmap?
