Question

direct deposit that was actually processed but not saved by Quickbooks due to a quickbooks caused corruption of data

We processed our direct deposit payroll and sent the payroll info to intuit.  The paychecks were deposited directly into our employees accounts on time.  Two days later we discovered work we had done on the payroll processing date had been corrupted on our quickbooks and the information that is sent to our checking account in quickbooks had disappeared.   I had to re enter the payroll information to get it to save again in quickbooks but it wants me to send the direct deposit information again.  We do not need to do that as it really did deposit the paychecks into our employees accounts on time.  This is an issue of having to recreate payroll, but I DO NOT need to resend to quickbooks due to data corruption.  How do I get rid of the message that I have payroll information to send in.  This message keeps popping up every time we enter quickbooks.  How do I make this message go away.  Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for turning to the Community with your payroll concern, @CC_1. I understand the need to keep a record of your processed paycheck, and I wished your data wasn't corrupted at the time.

Turning the direct deposit off temporarily when recreating the paychecks is the remedy for this.

Here's how to turn off direct deposit if you're using QuickBooks Desktop:

  1. Go to the Payroll menu, then select Employees.
  2. Select required employee(s), then go to the How do you want to pay (employee name)? section.
  3. Select Paper check option from the list, then click Done.

For QuickBooks Online, here's how:

  1. Click Workers, then select Employees.
  2. Select Run Payroll., then select Paper check under the Pay Method column.
  3. Preview and submit the rest of your payroll as you normally would.

There you go. You won't be prompted about sending direct deposit information again.
