Yes, the maximum hours allowed in QuickBooks Online Payroll refers to the employee's total number of hours, @user_query_1. I’ll provide further clarification about the vacation entitlement between full time and part time employees.

For full-time employees, the unused portion of a worker's vacation time will automatically roll over into the following year. For instance, an employee was granted a maximum of 320 vacation hours each year, or 80 hours. Even if the term spans a number of years, the employee's vacation balance will continue to build up until 320 available hours are met.

On the other hand, we’re unable to have the option of setting-up vacation time specific for part-timers. You can only edit and update their time.

You’ll want to read about setting up and tracking time off in payroll. This includes the process of changing the time off policy and adding paid or unpaid ones.

In case you want to pay your employees different hourly rates, you can Add additional pay types. See this article for more detail: Pay an employee different hourly rates.

Let me know if you have other questions about tracking time or any other payroll concerns. Please reply to this post and I'll get back to you. You have a good one.
