Question

Do I need to have workers comp while I am still the only person I am paying on payroll? I am the president of the company (S-Corp) and don't have any employees yet.

Let me provide you with some information about Worker's Compensation so you'll be guided on what to do, tonia7.

One of the advantages of the Workers' Compensation law is it protects employees who are injured or get disabled while working at their jobs. You'll want to reach out to your state agency to check if you need to avail this government-mandated program. If so, here's how you can get a quote or sign up:

  1. Go to QuickBooks Online.
  2. Select Payroll then Workers’ comp.
  3. Depending on where you are in the process, you can start a quote or manage your settings from here.

For more complete information, read this article for more details: Understand Workers' Compensation Insurance. Moreover, QuickBooks has different kinds of payroll reports that you can use to view useful information for your business and employees. I've added this article so you'll know what are those reports: Run Payroll Reports
