Question

Does anyone know how to get pass the W-9 page when accepting an invite from a client. I have tried to enter my EIN number with and without a dash with no success.

Let's ensure you get past the W-9 page.

When you accept the invitation, you'll be asked how to file your taxes along the process, and you can choose between entering your SSN and EIN details.

With this, may I ask for more details as to why you can't get through? Did you get a prompt message saying you entered the wrong number format or anything like that?

If you're sure you've chosen EIN, but still can't get through it, you'll want to do the basic troubleshooting steps.

First, open the invitation email and click the Enter W9 info button, and this step will take you to a browser page. Copy the link in the address bar and paste it into the address bar of a private or incognito browser. Then, continue until you finish entering your business information.Shortcut keys to open a private or incognito browser:

  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Safari: Command + Option + P
  •

If everything works well, you can go back to your regular browser and clear the cache. If not, try a different browser to see if this is an isolated case.
