Question

Does this level of PCI compliance from Intuit/Quickbooks not extend to default to all customers using Quickbooks? Do I need additional compliance?

I recently received an email from my online Quickbooks that I must be PCI compliant with using them - even though they are. They are suggesting I sign up for a service to become compliant on my own. Other platforms such as Shopify PCI compliant, which extends and covers all shop owners using their service.

Hello there, @usersales18.

Although QuickBooks applications are secure, other applications can compromise the security of your environment. That's why being PCI compliant is highly recommended.

And yes, you'll need to create an account with Security Metrics and complete the SecurityMetrics' FastPass then. By doing this, you'll be able to avail the PCI package. In addition, you must set up scans and complete the Self-Assessment Questionnaires (SAQ).

Also. becoming PCI-compliant is an ongoing process. As a merchant, you're required to validate your PCI compliance yearly. This includes re-submitting the SAQ and passing the required scans. Although validation is only an annual requirement, you're required and expected to follow the PCI requirements all the time. This includes watching the environment to identify any suspicious activity.

To learn more about becoming PCI compliant and the tools and services included in the QuickBooks PCI Service, kindly refer to this article: Learn about QuickBooks PCI Service.
